For the heat pump to operate correctly with the Passiv Smart Thermostat, the heat pump field settings must be adjusted. The following steps are performed on the Samsung indoor unit (MIM) control panel and assume a new installation*:
After pressing OK to wake up the controller, access the Service Mode via the Up & Down arrow pressed together for +3 seconds. A password field appears, enter 0202. Select “Field Setting Value” menu item:
- 2091 & 2092 must be set to “Not Use” (default) to permit Passiv Smart Thermostat control
- 105* (DHW Tank Temp Max) set to 70C to enable remote control of anti-legionella cycles and (DHW Tank Temp Min) set to 30C
- 3011 set to “Use (Hysteresis: Thermo ON/OFF state)” to control the hot water cylinder
- 3025 (Max DHW operation time) should be increased to 95 (mins)
- 3031 set to “Use” to enable the immersion heater
- 3032 booster delay time should be increased from 20 mins to 90 (mins)
- 3041 set to “Not Use” to disable Samsung disinfection
- 3071 set to "Tank/Normal Close" for the 3-way valve ("A" hot water and "B" to heating)
NOTE: There is no need to programme a weather compensation curve into the heat pump as weather compensation is determined automatically and dynamically by the Passiv Smart Thermostat. 201* and 202* relating to water law should be left at factory defaults.
Please ensure the hot water cylinder sensor is fully inserted in the middle tank sensor pocket and secured in place.
If the 3-way valve is plumbed with "A" to heating and "B" to hot water, then the 3071 value should be "Tank/Normal Open" instead.
*In the event the installation is already installed, it is likely that factory defaults have been altered. Please refer to the Samsung troubleshooting page for additional checks.
