Heat pump communication
If the Ebac is not successfully communicating with the Passiv Smart Thermostat then check the following:
- Confirm the RS485 cable connections within the Ebac indoor controller unit are the correct way around. If necessary double check continuity back to the previous device
- If the RS485 cable run is longer than 100m, use 2 twisted pair screened cable. This allows the GND to be connected between the Ebac indoor unit and the Programmer.
DHW demand & CH demand
When using the Passiv Smart Thermostat no connection is made to the Ebac controller DHW DEMAND or CENTRAL HEATING DEMAND. All control is performed using the RS485 communication between the Passiv Smart Thermostat and the Ebac controller.
Secondary water pump and 2-zone control
The Ebac indoor controller offers optional connections for a secondary water pump and zone valve control. These connections should not be used.
The Passiv Smart Thermostat controls optional secondary circulation pump and zone control via connections in the Passiv Programmer.
Pre-plumbed cylinders
If a pre-plumbed cylinder is used with Ebac, the 3-way valve orientation will need to be changed to: "A" heating and "B" hot water. Ebac heat pumps require this 3-way valve orientation to operate correctly.
